Bubbles Swimming NOP Normal Operating Procedures

This document outlines the standard operating procedures to ensure the safe, effective, and professional delivery of all swim school activities. It is designed to protect swimmers, staff, and visitors while maintaining high teaching standards.

These procedures apply to:

All swim teachers, assistants, and lifeguards

All swimmers and pool users

All poolside and changing room areas
​
Pool 12.2m by 6.1m depth is from 0.7 meters to 1.2 meters at the deepest part maximum bathers 24
​

Pool depth and layout must be clearly understood by all staff.
-
Maximum bather load must never be exceeded .
-
Emergency equipment must be accessible at all times.
Staff Responsibilities

General Duties
​

Arrive at least 15 minutes before sessions begin.
-
Wear appropriate uniform and identification.
-
Maintain professional conduct at all times.
-
Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations.
​
Pre-Session Checks
​
-
Inspect poolside and changing areas for cleanliness and hazards.
-
Set up teaching equipment and lane ropes as required.
-
Confirm water clarity and visibility are acceptable.
-
Ensure rescue and first aid equipment is present and functional.
Poolside Rules
​
-
No outdoor footwear on poolside.
-
No glass; plastic bottles onlypermitted.
-
No bags or personal belongings on poolside.
-
Swimmers must shower before entering the pool.
-
Running on poolside is strictly prohibited.
Supervision & Teaching
​
-
Maintain constant and active supervision of all swimmers.
-
Never leave a class unattended.
-
Follow appropriate teacher to swimmer ratios.
-
Deliver lessons in line with the swim school’s progression scheme.
-
Ensure all swimmers are assessed and tracked regularly.
Safeguarding
​
-
Follow all child protection and safeguarding policies.
-
Never be alone in a private area with a child.
-
Report any concerns immediately to the designated safeguarding lead DSL.

Hygiene & Cleanliness

Ensure swimmers follow pre swimmer hygiene rules.

Maintain cleanliness of poolside and changing areas.

Dispose of litter appropriately.
Post-Session Duties
​

Safely remove and store all equipment.
-
Check all swimmers have left the pool and changing areas.
-
Clean and tidy all areas used.
-
Report any maintenance or safety issues.
-
Secure the facility (lights, doors, equipment).
Equipment Use
​
-
Only approved equipment should be used.
-
Equipment must be checked regularly for damage.
-
Faulty equipment must be removed and reported immediatley.
Documentation
​

Maintain accurate attendance registers.
-
Record incidents, accidents and concerns.
-
Track swimmer progress and achievements.

The purpose of this document is to ensure the safety and well-being of all swimmers, staff, and visitors in case of any emergency situation.

These procedures apply to:

Emergency Procedures
​
General Response
​
-
Stop all activity immediately.
-
Ensure the safety of all swimmers.
-
Alert other staff and clear the pool if necessary.
-
Heat blankets are located by the door in case of evacuation.
-
Retaking register and checking everyone is assembled safely
-
After assembling at fire point parents will become responsible for themselves and their children
-
Teachers should record and report emergency to Kate Renfrew Sadd
-
Dialling 999 if required
Rescue

Carry out a rescue only if trained.
-
Use appropriate rescue equipment.
First Aid
​
-
Administer first aid as required.
-
Contact emergency services if necessary.
-
Record all incidents in the
Poo or vomit in the pool
​
Please clear the pool and scoop out as best you can. If it cannot be scooped out, or is severe then lessons will need to be cancelled.
